Live measurements

Every reading has a role.

Useful telemetry carries its source, circuit, location, time and validity. The number is only the beginning.

HVAI / MeasurementsIndependent R410A teaching fixture

Six direct measurement roles. Source, circuit and freshness belong beside each reading. Derived values need an eligible basis.

Measurements / IN DEPTH

The work behind the interface.

Purpose, prerequisites and the evidence that belongs to the task.

Standing at the equipment, a technician needs to know which value belongs to which physical point. HVAI’s measurement direction connects supported instrument data to an explicit role and circuit, then uses eligible inputs for calculations. The platform target is work across up to four active circuits. That target does not establish support for every phone or instrument: device model, firmware, connection path, mapping, accuracy and reconnect behavior require their own acceptance evidence.

01

Six physical inputs

The direct roles are low-side pressure, high-side pressure, suction-line temperature, liquid-line temperature, return-air temperature and supply-air temperature. A pipe clamp and an air probe are not interchangeable simply because both report temperature.

02

Derived values stay derived

Superheat, subcooling and air temperature difference use appropriate input pairs and context. They do not receive independent physical probe assignments, and missing prerequisites should make the calculation unavailable.

03

Circuits stay distinct

Circuit-specific inputs must remain isolated. A circuit, a compressor and a capacity stage describe different things. Shared air-side readings require clear unit-level context where they apply.

01Discover

Find a candidate instrument and identify the declared device combination. Discovery is an opportunity to connect; it does not prove that usable readings are arriving.

02Connect

Establish the supported connection path. Keep connection state separate from telemetry validity, so a connected badge cannot make an absent or stale reading appear fresh.

03Map and confirm

Give each source its physical role and circuit. Any provisional role suggestion needs placement review before the value helps explain the system.

04Watch freshness

If a source disconnects, retain the last genuine value as visibly aged or frozen. Exclude it from fresh calculations and preserve a gap rather than fabricating a zero.

STATUS & EVIDENCE

Six readings do not tell the whole story.

These inputs alone do not establish exact airflow, delivered capacity, efficiency or a specific fault. Additional measurements and applicable methods are needed for those conclusions. A measured SH or SC value is also separate from an approved charging target.
