Privacy Policy

HvAI helps HVAC technicians organize equipment, measurements and service work. HvAI HVAC Field Tools is published on Google Play by Hvac Shane. For privacy questions or requests, contact shane@hvai.tech.

Information used by the app

Nameplate reading and equipment information

The app includes on-device text recognition. If you choose cloud-assisted nameplate reading and accept its photo notice, your selected image is sent to the HvAI Brain service hosted on Google Cloud. This service reads the plate using hosted OCR and vision models. Consented plate images and reading results can be retained privately to improve reading accuracy; they are not limited to processing in memory for that one request.

Retained training images have embedded image metadata removed. The visible picture can still contain information you photographed. Do not photograph unrelated personal information. Equipment-information services also receive the identifiers needed to look up OEM information.

Providers and authorized sharing

HvAI uses infrastructure and authentication services including Cloudflare, Supabase and Google Cloud. Google sign-in, maps, location and ML Kit components support app features. Google's ML Kit components collect operational information such as app/device information, installation identifiers, performance and error information. Map and other online services can also receive network information such as your IP address when you use them. These providers' published privacy information applies to their services.

Work records shared into a company are available to its authorized users under the app's company-access rules. Records you export or share to another application or recipient are handled by that destination. HvAI does not include an advertising SDK or use an advertising identifier in this release.

Storage, security and retention

HvAI cloud transports use HTTPS. Cloud access controls restrict account and company information, and the retained scan-image bucket is private. Device permissions and sign-in do not make every enabled feature local-only.

Local records remain until you remove them or clear the app's storage. Cloud account, work and media records do not currently have a universal automatic expiration period. Consented training scans currently have no scheduled automatic deletion; their storage has a seven-day recovery window after an object is deleted. Provider logs, diagnostics and recovery copies follow the relevant provider's retention controls. We do not promise immediate erasure of every backup.

Your choices and deletion requests

You can change Android camera, microphone, nearby-device, media and location permissions, and use the app's cloud-reading, sync and backup controls. Disabling a feature stops its future use; it does not by itself remove records already uploaded.

To request deletion of your account and associated data, or to request deletion of particular records, follow the account-deletion instructions or email shane@hvai.tech. Requests require ownership verification. Account deletion is distinct from erasing local copies, company-held exports and training images stored without an account identifier. Include the records or original plate images you want located; the deletion instructions explain the current limits and follow-up.

This policy may be updated as the app's actual data handling changes. Contact us at shane@hvai.tech with questions about this version.
